I reckon it would be fair to say that sign up bonuses aren’t actually as generous these days as they once used to be as say in the late 1990s.
And not only are they not as attractive, but wagering requirements have quadrupled. Signup bonuses were originally created by online casinos to lure new players to register and trial games without feeling like they were putting too much at stake. Back then, there were fewer players and a large market to capture so bonuses tended to be really quite attractive. On the other hand, however, there is more competition today with a lot more online casinos operative so that would have led me to think that bonuses should be more competitive now than then. But sadly for us players, it’s not the case. Back in the early days it was fairly easy to sign up to a new casino and earn some real cash. But bonus whoring wasn’t the practice back then since the online gaming market wasn’t nearly as regulated as much as it is today – meaning that once you found a casino that you trusted, you tended to stick with it.
